Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to check in?

Once receiving the notification to check in for the first time, you will need to download the CheckMyBail App. It will send you a reminder once a week to check in. If you miss a check in, please call the office so that we can check you in manually.

When will I have my first court date?

It usually takes about 4-6 weeks for you to get your first court date. If it has past 6 weeks you will need to inform us and someone will go check on your case at the courthouse.

What happens on the first day of court?

On the first day of court, the Judge will ask you if you have hired an attorney, if you want to apply for a court appointed attorney or if you want to make a deal with the prosecutor. He is not interested in the details of your case(s), nor does he want to know how you are going to plea. He is only concerned about your attorney. You can hire an attorney at your own expense during the time that you are waiting for your first court date or you can wait and apply for a court appointed attorney. If you do hire an attorney prior to your first court date, he or she will appear before the judge on your behalf and will schedule you another court date. You will need to check with them to see if your presence is needed. If you do not hire an attorney, you will need to be present.

Where is the courthouse?

If you have a Bell County Case, the courthouse is located at 1201 Huey Road in Belton. If you have a case that is in another county and you are not sure where the courthouse is located, please call the office for further assistance.

Where do I go once I get to the courthouse?

Bell County Courthouse Entrance

Misdemeanor Cases: After going through security, you will need to take the elevator to the 2nd floor. Once you reach the second floor, you will turn right and follow the signs to the court coordinator. The court coordinator will inform you on what you need to do next.

Felony Cases: Report to your respected court room. If you do not know which court room you need to report to, there are screens on the left side of the elevators on the first floor. Find your name and next to your name will be the court room that you need to be in.

How should I dress for my appearance in court?

Dress as if you are going in for an interview or going to church. Your clothes should not be wrinkled or have holes. Flip flops and spaghetti strap shirts are not allowed.

What happens if I am late on a payment?

If you still have a balance and you are unable to make a payment, please call us and let us know. Failure to do so can result in your bond being revoked.

Do I need permission to leave out of the county or state?

Yes, you do need permission to leave out of the county or state. If we find out that you have left without notifying us that can result in your bond being revoked.

  • Moving or changing phone numbers and not notifying Heart of Texas Bail Bonds with the updated information
